Application of Glycopeel 50%

1. Skin preparation: Put on gloves and degrease the skin with 70% alcohol. Moisten two cotton pads with a lotion of your choice and carefully cover the eyes with them.
2. Applying the peel: Pour Glycopeel 50% into a glass dish. Dip a long cotton swab into the Glycopeel and begin applying the glycol. Apply the peel in this order: forehead, temples, nose, chin, and cheeks last (the cheeks are the most sensitive).
3. Dwell time and stimulation: Once the product has been applied evenly everywhere, continue to rotate the cotton swabs on the skin for 5 minutes. Communicate well with the client where it feels more sensitive/stings. Apply light pressure again over these areas to reduce this sensation.
4. Regularly check how the skin reacts; in case of very extreme erythema or intensive frosting of the skin, you must immediately stop and neutralize.
5. Neutralize the effect of the glycolic acid by covering the skin with tissues. Then gently dab the skin with cotton pads soaked in the neutralizer. This will produce a slight sizzling sound. When you no longer hear this sound, the effect has stopped and the peel has been neutralized.
6. Remove the tissues.
7. Apply the Special Care Calming serum to the skin, and then apply the Hydra Plus gel mask over it. Leave this on for a considerable time, then remove with compresses.
8. Conclude the treatment with the Special Care Skin Recovering serum.

Important:the client must care for the skin with the Special Care Skin Recovering serum for at least one week. The client must protect the skin with Sun SPF50 for at least 1 month.

Aftercare

After a 50% glycopeel (a medium-depth chemical peel with glycolic acid), your skin will be temporarily more sensitive, vulnerable, and susceptible to sunlight. Good aftercare is essential for optimal recovery, to prevent complications, and to achieve the desired result.

Immediately after treatment (first 24 hours)

Immediately after treatment, the skin may feel red, tingly, and tight. Cleanse your face only with lukewarm water and a mild, soap-free cleanser. Gently pat dry with a clean, soft towel. Do not use makeup and avoid sweating, exercising, saunas, or hot showers during the first 24 hours.

The first week: recovery, hydration, and protection

During the first 5 to 7 days, it is important to keep the skin well hydrated with a soothing cream. Do not use products with active ingredients such as acids (AHA/BHA), retinol, or vitamin C. It is possible that the skin will lightly peel from day 2 or 3; this is normal. Do not pull at loose skin to prevent scars or pigmentation issues.

Sun protection is crucial

After a glycolic acid peel, your skin is much more sensitive to UV radiation. Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every morning. Reapply if you are outdoors. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks after the treatment.

Avoid heat, friction, and aggressive products

During the first week, you should not use scrubs, exfoliating masks, razors, hair removal products, or exfoliating devices. Also, avoid hot baths, steam baths, saunas, and intense exercise. Do not rub or pull at the skin; let it heal naturally.

Resuming makeup and skincare

You can usually carefully resume makeup after 24–48 hours, provided the skin does not feel irritated. Opt for mineral makeup without fragrance. Active ingredients such as retinol, acids, or vitamin C should only be reintroduced after the skin has fully recovered, usually after 1 to 2 weeks.

Watch out for possible reactions

Some people temporarily experience more impurities, redness, or dryness after a peel. This is usually a normal reaction to the deep cell renewal initiated by the peel. Keep a close eye on your skin, and contact your specialist if symptoms persist.

Follow-up and maintenance

For long-term results, repeat treatments are often necessary. A series of 3 to 6 treatments is usually advised, with intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. Between treatments, consistently protect with SPF and use gentle skincare.
